The California Color Guard Circuit wishes to honor two of our most beloved friends and mentors by offering  memorial scholarships, The Harry Ariza Memorial Scholarship and The Wayne Wengert  Memorial Scholarship. This year we will offer up to six scholarships to a deserving high school senior planning on going to any post secondary educational institution.

The Harry Ariza Memorial Scholarship

Harry was the director and creative force behind the Sparks Color Guard, one of the early powerhouses of the CCGC. He went on to become a CCGC and WGI judge. He served for many years as the judge's coordinator for the CCGC. He, along with his wife Dee were instrumental in shaping the CCGC into the Circuit of Champions.

More important, Harry was a good friend and a positive role model to us all.

The Wayne Wengert Memorial Scholarship

This year we lost a wonderful friend of the pageantry world and a great supporter of CCGC, Wayne Wengert. Wayne was circuit president for many years and represented us well. He was the first West Regional Director and brought WGI competitions to the west coast. He created the first (and best) tabulation program for the winterguard activity. Wayne single-handedly brought technology to the winterguard activity. He never lost his great sense of humor.

With Wayne, it was always about the performers. Directors, instructors, boosters and audience members were important but the young people of the circuit were always #1 with him.

How to Apply

Each CCGC unit may nominate two competing members for this scholarship. Overall high school grade point average from the first seven (7) semesters, two letters of recommendation and a paragraph by the applicant on "Why I want/need this scholarship" will determine the scholarship
recipients. ONLY ONE APPLICATION PER STUDENT IS NEEDED TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR BOTH SCHOLARSHIPS.

A Scholarship Committee has been formed consisting of Judges, Instructors, Directors, Circuit Offic
